Eleven members of the Child Care Provider Network attended the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) conference in Washington, D.C., November 18-21, 2009.
Partial funding was provided by the State of Vt. Starting Points grant from the Child Development Division of the Department for Children and Families, from the Child Care Provider Network funds and the providers own contributions.

When: Second Wednesday of every month
Where: Springfield Area Parent Child Center, 6 Main Street, North Springfield, Vermont
Time: 6:30—8:30 pm

Cost to join: $25 per year - you can visit one time to meet people before you join.

Network members have a say in what the agenda will be each month. This is your chance to get together and voice your opinion and find support from others who truly know what a challenging and rewarding field child care can be. Newsletters are sent each month for upcoming meetings.

One popular workshop was a "Make it and Take it"

The Childcare Provider Network meets the second Wednesday of each month. At the June meeting 12 local childcare providers came out to have potluck and enjoy an informative night of learning more about the new Children’s Integrated Services now known as CIS. A panel consisting of Sherry Hatt and Gladys Collins who co-coordinate the program for our area and Candy McInerny who coordinates the Triple E program. CIS is now a statewide program that before was formally know as The Family, Infant and Toddler program, Healthy Babies, Kids and Family Program, and Children’s Upstream Services. Combining these services together will work better to provide family support from pregnancy to age six. When a child reaches age three and concerns about a child arise Triple E can be contacted. They provide services that can help young children get the special services they need before entering school. Both these program say that early detection is a key factor. And seeing that providers work with many young children and families the panel thought that this would be of interest to them, and how they could help families get the support they need that is available.

The next meeting for the Provider Network is Wednesday July 14^th 6:30-8:30 at the parent child center. Members that have attended meetings such as the Starting Points State Wide Meeting; The Stars overview program; and a 3-day ECKERS training will share information gathered at those meetings.

The September meeting will be on a Saturday (date to be decided) and will be the annual progressive dinner that is popular among members.

More planning is still in the works for the fall meetings. A mini-conference in October is still in the planning stages.

Any registered or licensed provider in the area is welcome to join the Child Care Provider Network.
